Karate Combat is bursting onto the MMA scene with its fun style and interesting layout. Just this last weekend the promotion got some help with popularity from one of the MMA GOATs- Georges St. Pierre at Karate Combat 35.
Karate is one of the most well-known martial arts and getting leverage from the UFC's own karate kid: 'Wonderboy' Stephen Thompson, one can only assume they will go up from here.
The layout of the fighting platform is different than the octagon.
The combatants fight in a pit, as if they were Roman gladiators fighting to the death. Karate Combat will attract a lot of fans because it is a promotion centered around stand-up fighting. Kickboxing is fun, but it is also in a ring and there are so many different promotions it is hard to keep up with stars coming on the scene.
How many MMA fans truly knew about the Stylebender's kickboxing career before he was getting recruited by the UFC? Or his rival Alex Pereira for that matter? Who was only known for knocking out the UFC Middleweight Champ, not his illustrious kickboxing career. Not many!
Karate Combat getting help from UFC Legends will also accelerate the promotion in recruiting old and new fighters, especially if they believe they are building a connection that could bolster their career into the Octagon.
The more exciting finishes, rule changes, and viral clips that come from KC will only make it bigger. You can count me in as a fan who will follow the promotion and if you have not given it a chance, and you love MMA, I suggest watching the next event.
If you don't know, now YOU KNOW!

I've watched a couple of these, amazing. Are they still doing the CGI in the background?
