When the goat discussion comes up, I always route back to Jon Jones, from watching him come up in the early years to seeing him get sponsorship from Nike, a huge milestone in MMA.
I even enjoyed watching the fights that he clearly lost. There is something special about Jones that makes him hugely talented but also bat shit crazy.
If you're like me, you've been watching from the side lines as prepares to go to heavyweight but, at the same time, wondering if he'll ever get there (what with he personal issue and not having a primary gym to train at anymore), and if he does, can he compete with the likes of Ngannou and Miocic?
As an athlete, I feel he can, and he will. How does everyone else feel about it?

I think as soon as he gets a fight booked I'll be able to care about Jon Jones again. As of right now there's a lot of tweeting about how bad everyone else looks whilst just showing that he's bulked up and debates about how much he's worth. Couple that with domestic abuse and frequent cheating I find it hard to dedicate space to Jones' move up until it actually happens. He's super skilled but obviously his frame isn't going to be as significant in a fight against, for example, Ngannou who stands pretty much exactly even with him.
It'll be interesting when it happens and I think he's got what it takes to beat a fair few heavyweights but for now I keep forgetting he exists
Prob one of the best fight IQ's in the game. He always finds a way to win one way or another. Shame about all the controversy, there is no free pass for something that beats up a woman, or nearly kills a pregnant one in a car crash.
I don't half like watching him compete though and I think the MMA community will be falling over themselves to see him compete at heavyweight, I just hope it isn't some kind of freak show.
Does Ngannou need to cut weight to compete?
I personally am really hype for him to come back and fight Stipe! And Iβm ready to see him at heavyweight with some guys that are more his size! Although I think he might be a bit slow til his body really gets used to carrying that weight, you canβt doubt Jon Jones is going to entertain! I feel like the cheating and other things may have hurt his legacy somewhat I think heβs got a chance to write a different story at heavyweight.
I say if he beats Stipe and Ciryl Gane beats Tai Tuivasa, depending on what happens with Francis. I think you put them together for either a number one contender match or for an interim title if Francis does decide to part ways with the UFC. You could even put him against Aspinall if he keeps winning, thereβs some great fights to make at heavyweight!
I think if Jon Jones gets 2 good wins in a heavyweight and he stops with the evil shit (but I think that's ingrained in him) then it lights up the whole heavyweight division on his last run before retirement. I am so intrigued to see what happens if he does make an appearance.
