UFC Fight Week: Yadong vs. Simon

The UFC is back again at the UFC Apex Center this Saturday April, 29th with the main event headlining Bantamweight’s Song Yadong (#8) vs. Ricky Simon (#10). Originally this fight was scheduled for the Co-main event for UFC Vegas 71 Pavlovich vs. Blaydes, but Lightweight Renato Moicano (#13) had to withdrawal from the fight against Arman Tsarukyan (#8) due to injuries and the UFC was unable to find him an opponent for the main event. The Co-main bout will feature rising Middleweights Caio Borralho vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk, and the rest of the main card will feature Middleweights Rodolfo Vieria vs. Cody Brundage, Heavyweights Marcos Rogerio de Lima vs. Waldo Cortes-Acosta, and to kick off the main card we have Welterweights Josh Quinlan vs. Ange Loosa.

Now let’s talk about the Main Event, Song Yadong (19-7-1) is coming into this fight with a loss against Cory Sandhagen due to a doctor's stoppage TKO in the fifth round last september, but before that he was on a three-fight winning streak with two of his fights ending with a KO/TKO. At twenty, Yadong made his UFC debut back in 2017 against Bharat Kandare and had a first round submission finish. Yadong has only lost twice in his UFC career but has defeated top Bantamweights like Marlon Moraes, Marlon Vera, Casey Kenney, and Julio Arce. The young fighter is only twenty-five years old and has had eleven fights in the UFC.

Ricky Simon (20-3) is coming into this fight with a five-fight winning streak with his last fight winning by submission in the second round against Jack Shore. Shore made his UFC debut back in 2018 and the opponent he was facing was number one contender Merab Dvalishvili, whom he beat by submission in the third round. Since then Simon has only lost twice in his UFC career so far, but has beaten top Bantamweight contenders like Raphael Assuncao, Ray Borg, Brian Kelleher, and Gaetano Pirrello.

Both of these Bantamweight fighters are on the rise to glory, and this Saturday night we will see who wants it more than the other. Who do you guys have winning the Main Event? And what other fights are you excited about on this card? Let me know down in the comments below, Let’s GO!!
