How does scoring work in the UFC?

I wrote an entire article about how the UFC is scored if you're interested.

Generally speaking, it still works on a 10-point MUST system that was adapted from Boxing. So both fighters start on 10-10 and lose points based on what happens per round.

The difference to Boxing is that the loss of points depends on many more things, which are complicated, namely different fighting styles. E.g. earning points/not losing points on the feet and striking is very different from what happens on the ground.

This is why many say the Wrestling element is weighted too heavily in favor on the scorecards. This is partly true, in my opinion!
